Charles F. Rice Scrapbooks, 1893-1912.

This collection consists of two scrapbooks kept by Charles F. Rice from 1893-1912. Topics in the books include national and international politicians, world's fairs and expositions, and elections. Information on elections includes newspaper articles from the Atlanta Constitution and the Atlanta Journal about local and state-wide Democratic and Republican elections from 1902-1906. Images and printed biographies of contemporary senators, judges, congressmen, , and ambassadors, as well as foreign diplomats and royalty are taken from other printed material. Also included are images of buildings from the Chicago World's Fair (also known as the World's Columbian Exposition) in 1893, and also views of the 1895 Cotton States and International Exposition.

Charles F. Rice (1867-1928) was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Franklin P. and Mary (Mitchell) Rice. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1887, Charles became a bookkeeper for the Fulton County Street Railroad Company. He later worked as Atlanta correspondent for the Macon Telegraph, and also became involved in local politics.
