Baillie manuscript collection of Scottish fiddle music. [between 1830 and 1936]

The Baillie manuscript collection of Scottish fiddle music consists chiefly of works by Robert Baillie (1853-1939), either composed, transcribed or arranged by him, as well as some works by Baillie's grandfather, Peter "Pate" Baillie (1774-1841). The collection includes a significant proportion of traditional Scottish tunes as well as variations. The manuscripts were brought to Australia in 1912 by Robert Baillie's son, Robert "Ballantyne" Baillie (1886-1954), who was a professional musician in Australia for most of his working life. The collection also includes correspondence from Robert Baillie to his son in Australia giving playing advice, and a selection of music collected by the younger Baillie whilst in Australia, including material composed in Ballarat in 1870.
