Fredrick M. Jelly was born June 20, 1927 in Bayonne, New Jersey, and, before entering the Dominicans in 1949, attended Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University. After studies at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., he was ordained to the priesthood in 1956.
