The address is an autographed copy of a speech given at Davidson College (1986). Correspondence (1958-1986) includes photocopies of letters sent by Styron as well as original letters to Dr. Chalmers Davidson. American novelist William Styron was born in Virginia and graduated from Duke. After serving in World War II, he worked as an editor while writing his first novel.
