Illinois regiments in the Civil War, 1861-1864, 1880.

Volume containing brief histories of Illinois artillery, cavalry, and infantry regiments that served during the Civil War. Pasted in the front of the volume is a letter (April 27, 1880) by the donor, Henry R. Boss, on a letterhead advocating changes in spelling, as recommended by the American Filological Association and by Melvil Dewey, Secretary of the Spelling Reform Association. The histories are handwritten.
