Redacted personal letter to Miss Helen L. Ledyard of Cazenovia, N.Y., dated Philadelphia, June 11, 1833. The writer describes meeting the Indian chief Black Hawk and members of his family, and seeing President Jackson riding in a parade. He also discusses his impressions of the book "Characteristics of Women," and of the emotions evoked by the different seasons.

Frances Anne "Fanny" Kemble (27 November 1809 – 15 January 1893) was a British actress from a theatre family in the early and mid-19th century. She was a well-known and popular writer and abolitionist, whose published works included plays, poetry, eleven volumes of memoirs, travel writing and works about the theatre.
