Capt. Paul A. Lutz self-written narrative describes three different incidents that occurred during the USCGC Sherman's Vietnam cruise in 1970, where she was assigned, under his command, to Coast Guard squadron three: the interdiction and sinking of a North Vietnamese trawler attempting to land arms and ammunition to enemy forces in South Vietnam; an intelligence mission, bringing her dangerously close to Communist Chinese territory; and how two of Sherman's medical personnel on a humanitarian mission, went ashore under threat of communist attack, and saved a Vietnamese village from a cholera epidemic.
