Siegfried Bernfeld papers, 1854-1975 (bulk 1930-1953).

Correspondence, writings, reports, minutes of meetings, research files, and printed material relating to Bernfeld's career as a psychoanalyst in Europe and America and to the study of Sigmund Freud carried on by Bernfeld and his wife Suzanne Casirer Bernfeld. Subjects include the history of psychology and of the psychoanalytic movement. Also includes drafts of writings on a variety of psychoanalytical topics by Paul Federn, Otto Fenichel, Ernest Jones, Herbert Silberer, and Gustav Wyneken. Documents Bernfeld's work relating to educational reform, standards for the training of psychoanalysts, psychoanalytic theory, and the expression of the theory of consciousness within a theory of sets of points and topology. Also documents his involvement in a movement among Jewish youth in the early twentieth century and in the Wiener Psychoanalytische Vereinigung and the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Group.
