Buchanan donation fund, 1853-1880.

Records of a city fund established in 1853 by Hon. James Buchanan with the purchase and donation of a $4000 bond, the interest of which was used to buy heating fuel and other items for needy women throughout the city and as other philanthropists contributed money, additional names were added to the fund.
