George V. Fagan was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1917, and entered Temple University, Philadelphia in 1936 from which he received both his Bachelor of Science degree (1940) and his Master of Arts degree in history (1941). He taught at Temple for a year before beginning his military service in 1941. After World War II, Fagan returned to Temple University in 1946 and taught there for five years when he was recalled to active duty during the Korean War. He was assigned to teach history at ...
