Miriam Lowenberg was born 27 July 1897 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Dr. Lowenberg received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and graduate degrees at Iowa State College and the State University of Iowa. After teaching home economics at several levels, she became assistant professor in foods and nutrition and child development at Iowa State College.
