Born near Keota, Iowa, Edward Albert Kreger (1868-1955) graduated from Iowa State College in 1890. He then studied law at the University of Iowa and Drake University before being admitted to the Iowa Bar. Prior to joining the military, he served as principal for various school districts in Iowa and practiced law in Cherokee, Iowa. Kreger married Louise Mae in 1891 and fathered one daughter. With the outbreak of the Spanish-American War in 1898, he joined the 52nd Iowa Volunteer Infa...
