Letters from Herbert Johnson to Will Owen Jones, 1921.

In a letter, 1921 March 15, Johnson explains his relationship to the New York "Globe "noting that, as a member of the Associated Newspapers, the "Globe" uses his cartoons, but he is not on their staff, but that he is on the staff of the "Saturday Evening Post." On May 21 he thanks Jones for "helpful suggestions on my newspapers stuff" explaining that the change from thinking politically to thinking comically "is radical and takes a little time for readjustment ..." He will keep in mind the suggestion to make women attractive, not ugly. On October 15 he asks to pospone writing an article on his farm to go with some pictures he has already sent. He also notes that his Post cartoon every week prevents him from sending more to Jones and notes that "so many are pretty cheesy is as much a source of pain to me as to any harrassed editor."
