Journal for 1869, 1869 Dec-1870 Feb.

Holograph diary, probably by a woman, detailing approximately two months of travel in Italy, the Alps, France, and England. Most entries are brief outlines of days devoted to shopping in the morning, sight-seeing in the afternoon, and cultural events or visits in the evening. Sights described in slightly more detail include the Guido Reni frescoes at the Palazzo Pallavicini-Rospigliosi; the ruins of Pompeii; an unidentified woman sculptor's studio; and Malmaison, where the author notices Josephine's "needle still placed in her work where she placed it." The last few pages contain notes on a series of lectures on Shakespeare and English history given by women lecturers, particularly a "Miss Moulton."
