[Letterbook], 1740 Oct 5 - 1744 Mar 28.

Manuscript, in multiple hands, of a collection of copies of the correspondence of various secretaries of state, including Thomas Pelham-Holles, William Stanhope, and John Carteret, with their envoys in Europe, including Thomas Robinson in Vienna and Robert Hampden-Trevor in the Hague. Many of the letters refer to territorial disputes between Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and Frederick II of Prussia and the War of Austrian Succession, especially as the situation concerns England's relationship with France. In a letter to Lord Harrington, for example, "Mr. Gui-Dikens" writes, "If we favour His Prussian Majesty, France will cretainly declare for the House of Austria, so that we shall give that crown an opportunity of putting in execution her pernicious designs."
