Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of 15 primarily comic and satirical poems, many of them concerning politics, or containing references to Oxford University. Such poems include A dialogue between John Bull and Nicholas Frog; A complaint from Parnassus or an annual epistolary commerce between Oxford and Winton College; and On the king of France his statue brought over by the Duke of Marlborough and placed before Blenheim Palace. The volume also contains several serious political poems, including On the Congress of Utrecht and On the present reign. The authors are identified at the end of each poem by their last names.

Anne, Queen of Great Britain 1702-1714, was the last Stuart monarch. Raised as a Protestant, she was convinced to support the efforts of William of Orange and her sister Mary to depose her Catholic father, King James II. William and Mary became monarchs, and Anne succeeded to the throne upon William's death.
