[Commonplace book], [ca. 1650].

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of sermon extracts and theological notes, on such subjects as the necessity of humility; the worth of the soul as compared to worldly goods; and the dangers of "the lust of the flesh." One sermon reminds its listeners how to keep the faith by emulating the "Holy Martyrs...Cranmer, Ridley, Hooper, & diverse other Reverend Prelates" if the "Papists" rise to power "(as it fell out after the days of K. Edward VI)."
