George Frederick Gundelfinger (1884 – 1974) graduated from the Sheffield Scientific School in 1906. He received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Yale in 1909, and served as a professor of Mathematics from 1909 – 1913. After leaving Yale, Gundelfinger taught at several other institutions before retiring to Pennsylvania. Reuben Andrus Holden (1918-1995) was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated in 1940 from Yale College. After serving as an infantry officer in World War II, he went on to receive his M.A., 1948, and Ph.D., 1951, in Education from Yale University.
