A report by Father Bravo on the life of Father Francesco María Picolo, a Jesuit priest active in the foundation of missions in California. Bravo describes Picolo's training, arrival in the new world, work among the Tarahumara Indians in Mexico, and missionary travels in California with Father Juan María de Salvatierra. In 1701, Picolo returned to Mexico to raise funds for further missionary work in California.

Jesuit missionary and explorer. Born in Palermo, Sicily in 1654, Piccolo arrived in Mexico in 1684. He travelled to Baja California in 1697, where he was one of the earliest missionaries after Father Eusebio Kino. Later he served in the missions of Sonora and Sinoloa.
