Couvillion discusses farming in Avoyelles Parish in the early 20th century, his attendance at LSU in the late 1920s, President Thomas Boyd, various professors at LSU, his work to eradicate the sugarcane borer and the corn borer, the Mississippi River flood of 1927, his work as a vocational agriculture teacher in Houma and a county agent in Terrebonne Parish, the impact of electricity on farm communities, and his ownership of a hardware and feed store in Baton Rouge.
