Pennsylvania State University class materials collection, 1861-1969.

This collection consists of materials relating to the graduating classes 1861-1868, 1874-1893, 1895-1917, 1919-1949, and 1951-1969 of the Pennsylvania State College and Pennsylvania State University. It contains pamphlets and agendas for the last week of school for seniors as well as graduation proceedings, commencement speeches, and activities. Also represented in this collection are handouts and pamphlets from events during the year such as dance cards for balls, hops, and promenades. There are some class rosters and student directories published years after graduation for several classes as well as pamphlets and organizational notes for class reunions.

The Pennsylvania Humanities Council designated the year 1985 as "The Year of the Pennsylvania Writer." The PHC funded projects in eight locations throughout the Commonwealth to gain appreciation, understanding, and recognition for past and present Pennsylvania writers.
