Scrapbook created by Callydonia [Callie] Bryce Trenholm Atkinson (Mrs. William M. Atkinson) of South Carolina and Winchester, Va. Chiefly news clippings of poems, chiefly dating to the Civil War era (clipped from newspapers printed in Columbia and Charleston, S.C.; Augusta, Ga.; Lousiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and elsewhere); topics include registers of soldiers; obituaries; and reports of battles, including map of battle at first Manasses printed, 6 Aug. 1861, in a New Orleans newspaper. News items dating to later 19th century document various aspects of Lost Cause memorialization of Confederate heros, with clippings depicting memorials, obituaries of Confederate officers and others, including a commemorative ribbon, 11 Dec. 1889, honoring Jefferson Davis, "Memorial Services, Grand Opera House, Charleston, S.C.," printed with color image of Confederate battle flag.
