Letter Boston, 1855 Sept. 17, Boston.

Writing to an unidentified art dealer/restorer, encloses "an article by a remarkable critic on Tintoretto's great picture of St. Mark, an old copy of which I have..." Sumner indicates that a restorer over-cleaned it and goes on to say that he has "four new acquisitions, old pictures of value" two of which, a Murillo and "a Netscher of real beauty" need cleaning. Finally, Sumner requests "the list of old pictures which you have recently purchased. Where is the red man?"
