Syracuse et Noto : holograph, [1862].

This holograph essay, signed by Dumas and written on his characteristic blue paper, makes an appeal for the reinstatement of Syracuse as the provincial capital of Sicily, after having been replaced by Noto under the Bourbons from 1837-1865. In the essay, Dumas refers to the year 1862, during which time he was publishing his pro-unification newspaper, "L'Indipendente," in Italy.
