Bennett Price reminiscence, ca. 1915.

Bennett Price (b. 1842) was a Marysville, Montana Territory, miner and general store owner. His reminiscence describes his life at Marysville and surrounding mining camps from 1864 to 1886. (SC 673) This collection contains a two-page typed reminiscence by Bennett Price describing his arrival in Virginia City; his placer mining in and around Helena; his mercantile business, Jurgens and Price, in Marysville and Belmont; and his work for the Northern Pacific Railroad.

Bennett Price was born in Wales in 1842, but his family moved to Wisconsin when Price was a baby. In 1864, he travelled to Virginia City, Montana Territory. In 1878, he established a store at Belmont, above Marysville, with John H. Jurgens. They continued to operate the store and one in Marysville until 1886, when they sold out and made a contract to supply timber to the Northern Pacific Railroad.
