Tall case brass dial clock, 1787.

Cherry tall-case clock. The hood has a molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved rosettes with a central urn-and-flame finial, dentil molding at the cornice, a molded arch above the door, free-standing fluted columns at the four corners and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove and Greek key molding at the top, fluted quarter-columns at the front corners, and a case door with concave top corners. Base with cove and ogee moldings at the top. Base section with turned quarter-columns at the front corners, an applied base panel with concave top corners. Signed on the bottom of the bridge board "George Miller June 21 1787." Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, applied cast decoration in the spandrels, and seascape with a ship painted in the lunette surrounded by an engraved border. There is an engraved calendar ring inside of the hour numerals. Inside the chapter ring there is engraved decoration with the inscription "George Miller Germantown." Eight day movement.
