Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1770-1790.

Tall-case clock. The hood has a cove molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved rosettes, and three wooden turned ball-and-flame finials. The center finial sits between the two carved rosettes, and the flanking finials sit on fluted plinths. There is a molded arch above the door, and free-standing turned and fluted columns at the four corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove and ogee moldings at the top, fluted quarter-columns at the front corners, and a case door with concave corners. Base with ogee and ovolo moldings at the top. Base section with fluted quarter-columns at the front corners, and an applied base panel with an applied ovolo molding along the edge. Supported on ogee bracket feet. Engraved brass dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, engraved foliate decoration in the spandrels and within the chapter ring. There is a moon dial in the lunette. A seconds dial is engraved above the pierced hands. The days of the month (1-31) are engraved inside the hour ring, below the roman numerals. Dial is signed inside the chapter ring, between the hour and minute numerals, "Wm Hudson Mount Holly." Eight day movement.
