Telling her that he and his sons have returned [from a visit to Niagra Falls and Montreal]; reporting that his son Erny is "very feverish and ill"; saying that it "would be a pity to break up [her] visit to the seaside," but acknowledging that they will "all be very glad to see her"; admitting that the "bright, cool, June day" feels "dreary" to him.
