Sophia Peabody Hawthorne letters, 1827, 1868.

Two autograph letters, signed, from Sophia Hawthorne to her sister Mary T. Peabody (Dec. 19, 1827) and to her daughter Rose Hawthorne Lathrop (April 26, 1868). Letter to sister Mary discusses several mutual acquaintances. A long letter to daughter Rose describes incidents involving Rose's sister Una, with references to brother Julian, "Mr. Emerson," and other friends and relatives.
