Includes etchings of Chinatown and Mission Dolores in San Francisco, an etched portrait of Phoebe Apperson Hearst, and paintings of trees and landscapes in the Berkeley Hills, of the mouth of the Russian River, and the rotunda of the Hibernia Bank (San Francisco). Also includes an original painting for the 1913 Portola Festival. Also includes photographic prints of Hearst; of a sculptural relief portrait of Alexander Pope; of an antiphonal manuscript; and of the cemetery in Balaklava, Russia for British soldiers lost in the Charge of the Red Brigade during the Battle of Balaklava. Also includes a Ganat Brothers magazine advertisement.

Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson Hearst was born in St. Clair, Missouri, the daughter of Drucilla (Whitmire) and Randolph Walker Apperson. In 1860, businessman George Hearst met Phoebe when he returned to St. Clair to care for his dying mother. When they married on June 15, 1862, George Hearst was 41 years old, and Phoebe was 19.
