Letter from E.A. Alderman to Frederic W. Scott [manuscript], 1928 September 18.

Alderman responds to a note of Scott's dated September 10, and discusses Thomas Jefferson's Bible and Jefferson's positions on religion, morality, and Christ. Alderman includes a rumination on Jefferson's fear of "church organizations and...the intolerance and bigotry that is sometimes manifested in them," and theorizes that Jefferson would "be voting for Alfred E. Smith, if he were alive, and saying pregnant things about freedom of conscience and the mind."
