Papers of the Minor and Venable families [manuscript], 1828-1904.

Papers of Raleigh C. Minor include an account of the Summer Law Class, 1895-1896, with a mention of W. M. Lile; opinions rendered, 1897-1902; business correspondence, 1896-1902; a letter concerning the Colston family; a typescript of his book "A republic of nations"; and some personal correspondence including letters from H. H. Downing, James Keith, Fitzhugh Lee, and Woodrow Wilson. Papers of John B. Minor include drafts of his letters; miscellaneous writings including "Importation of slaves into Virginia," "Expected return of Christ," and comments on the Virginia Code of 1887; commonplace book and journal, 1843; legal papers; University of Virginia financial papers; and a photographs. Civil War related items include J.E.B. Stuart to Robert E. Lee, 1863 Sept. 19, a circular from Robert E. Lee, 1864 June 3, facsimiles of Stonewall Jackson's last dispatch, and James Longstreet to Charles S. Venable on Gettysburg, 1875 May 30. There are post war letters to Venable from Wade Hampton, Henry Heth, Joseph E. Johnston, Fitzhugh Lee, George Washington Custis Lee, and Robert E. Lee. Joseph LeConte, John Wanamaker and Woodrow Wilson are also correspondents. Miscellaneous items include a photograph of the students in T.I.L.K.A.; a photograph of Jefferson's tomb; nails from the Rotunda; a book of John B. Minor's containing a list of [students?], 1891-1896, a copy of a letter concerning the Rotunda fire, and the expenses of a law student, 1892; a sermon preached by the Rev. J. R. Macduff to the Y. M.C.A., 1889; a song "The U.S.a." forever by Bishop Gibson; the manuscript of an undated Law School Libel Show; and the arithmetic book of Jacob Grove, 1828.
