Papers of Randolph Scott Copeland [manuscript] 1943-1945 (1984).

The papers consist almost entirely of letters from Copeland to his wife Detta Osborne Copeland regarding his activities with the 35th "Santa Fe" Division, 137th Regiment in France, Belgium, Holland & Germany. Copeland, a reporter, and associate editor of the Division's newspaper, the Santa Fe Express, describes training camps in the U. S., the convoy across the Atlantic and the army advance across France and Germany. Of interest are his descriptions of visits with civilians in liberated towns. There are also some military newspapers, ration coupons, and photographs of Copeland and his wife. Douglas Southall Freeman is a correspondence.
