Kantor's poem about Stonewall Jackson appears on p. 15 of the New York Herald Tribune, Tuesday, April 30, 1935, in column 2. In column 3 there is an article on Gertrude Stein's visit to the United States ("Gertrude Stein adores U.S. but not California") in which the following is attributed to her: "Miss Stein has developed an especial fondness for Texas, among other places. She finds it very like Virginia but more alive. In Virginia, she feels, every one lives so much in the past that the state is virtually uninhabited." In column 7, there is an advertisement for William Faulkner's Pylon.
