Letters regarding Tadeusz Kościuszko [manuscript], 1812-1818.

Jefferson, Monticello, to Jonathan Smith. 1812 October 8. Requests the cashier of the Bank of Pennsylvania to pay General Kościuszko's dividend to John Barnes. Jefferson to John Barnes. 1814 April 25. Discusses Kościuszko's investments and the monetary situation of the United States. Jefferson to George W. Campbell, 1814 May 8. Asks Campbell if it is possible for the Treasury to arrange for Kościuszko to receive payment of annual interest due him and interrupted because of the war. Jefferson to John Barnes, 1816 December 31. Jefferson authorizes Barnes to transfer to Kościuszko "all the stock of the United States standing to my credit on the books of the Treasury as well as all my shares in the Bank of Columbia." Jefferson to John Armstrong, 1818 March 20. Requests information for a biography of Kościuszko to be written by Mr. Gullien. Administration of General Kościuszko's estate.
