Store ledgers, 1850-1856, of a general store in Culpeper County, Va., with numerous entries for cloth and cloth items, tobacco, and dry goods. Include slave bill of sale, 1824, for one month old child; deed and supporting documentation pertaining to sale, 1811, of Culpeper County land of William and Elizabeth Newton to Abijah and Nancy Dulaney; deed, 1822, recording sale of Culpeper County land of Abijah and Nancy Dulaney to John F. Brown. Also include tax receipts, 1862 and 1865, of John Brown of Culpeper County; itemized appraisal, 1864, of property of George Brown, deceased; and letters, 1870-1875, of Daniel F. Brown, describing the 1870 flood of the Shenandoah river, the rise of waters, and loss of life and property, and agricultural pursuits.
