Papers of R.E. Lee and Son [manuscript], 1935-1962.

The collection contains business correspondence, cost estimates, subcontracts, labor cost reports, employment applications, accounts and invoices, and materials lists pertaining to the construction, reconstruction or renovation of private and historic residences, churches, commercial and industrial buildings, and schools, chiefly in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, Va. Projects include the restoration of Monticello and reconstruction of Shadwell; restoration and reconstruction at Mt. Vernon; and alterations at Morven; as well as construction of homes for Fiske Kimball, Edwin M. Watson and others. Plans for the former, drawn by Kimball, are also included. Other local projects include Belfield School; Belmont Baptist Church; Burnley-Moran and Johnson Elementary Schools; Christ Church; Crozet Baptist Church; Culpeper Methodist Church; Daily Progress building; Hinton Avenue Methodist Church; Jackson Park Office Building; People's National Bank; St. John's Episcopal Church; Wesley Memorial Methodist Church; and several buildings at the University of Virginia including Madison Hall, and Phi Epsilon Pi.
