Soap trade card collection, [between 1880 and 1884].

26 colored advertising cards. Most are for Kendall Mfg. Co., Providence, R. I. advertising Soapine and French Laundry soap. Three are for Curtis Davis & Co., Boston, Mass. for Welcome soap. Five cards from the series "Three ages of woman" with advertising of Westland Safety Lamp Co. Each card is illustrated with a hand-colored picture on recto (many humorous, some fantastic, many showing women at domestic chores) with printed advertising on the verso of most cards. Designed by Charlotte Perkins Gilman between 1880 and 1884. Size varies slightly. Included are 2 issues of The Advertising Trade Card Quarterly, Summer and Fall 2001 with articles discussing Gilman's trade cards.
