Mary Outwater White collection, 1848-1857.

Letters from Mary Outwater to Andrew D. White during the period of their courtship (1853-1857); an undated letter from Lucia Outwater to her daughter, Mary; an undated letter from Maria H. Wilkinson, Mary's friend, to White; and many notes in White's hand commenting on the letters. Also a short essay on painting, by Mary Outwater, dated June 26, 1848. Also an article in the Ezra Cornell Centennial Number of the Cornell Era by J. M. Hart, Men and Women of the Early Days of the University, which mentions Mrs. White; and Mary Outwater's "Composition" book, 1852, containing a few pencil notes by Andrew D. White. Also three photos of Mary Outwater filed in photo folders in the A. D. White Papers (collection # 1/2/2). Also Harris cat. #MSS C6009 on March 25, 1975. Items: one bound notebook, dated Sept. 16, 1852, French compositions on Enigmes, Historique, Mythologique, et Litteraire. Also a list of books she read from April 1, 1853 through 1855; shoe purchase note-1856. Also photographs, portraits, etc. of Andrew D. White, Mary O. White and Ruth White Ferry.
