Allen's Indian mail relating to China and the Chinese, 1843-1849.

Collection of those articles from Allen's Indian mail which concerned mainly China and the Chinese, assembled at the behest of Charles Wason. Although the typescript title page gives 1919 as the date when the volumes were assembled, the actual years covered are 1843-1844 and 1846-1849. Topics include political and diplomatic news, the state of the markets, the Chinese language and literature, and the scheduled arrival and departure times for ships carrying mail. While most articles focus on China, some also describe conditions in Hong Kong, Macao, India, and Siam.
