Scrapbook of announcements and other ephemera advertising Catlin's Gallery of North American Indians and events pertaining to Indians. Includes some correspondence, tickets signed by Catlin, newspaper clippings, and information about his exhibitions in the Indian Museum at the Egyptian Hall, Picadilly. Also advertisements for events with Indians who were brought back to Europe, including archery competitions and am event held at Windsor Castle. The advertisements mention the various tribes which the items in the collection are from. There are also advertisements for other exhibits that are not related to Native Americans, including a three-legged child, animals, and other curiosities.

George Catlin, artist and author, was known especially for his paintings of Indians. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he practiced law until his talent for painting led him to join a group of artists in Philadelphia in 1823. Catlin concentrated on portrait painting in Washington, D.C., until 1829, when he saw a delegation of visiting American Indians in Philadelphia.
