Jean Trepp McKelvey, International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America, Public Review Board, member's files, 1957-1980.

Consist chiefly of Public Review Board decisions, transcripts of appeal hearings before the Board, digest of cases, proceedings of special sessions of the International Executive Board, and letters and memoranda regarding the cases collected by Board member Jean McKelvey. These cases involve grievances brought by union members against union officials and union discipline cases against members. Among the most serious charges documented herein are allegations of criminal infiltration of certain locals, union officers taking bribes and engaging in collusion with management, favoritism and sex and race discrimination by union officials, violations of due process in local union elections and trials, violations of the union constitution, and the mishandling of grievances brought against employers. Discipline cases against union members include actions for dues delinquency, exceeding production quotas, crossing picket lines, dismissal for sabotage, dereliction of duty by union officials, and violence against supervisors, among other charges. Additional issues to come before the Board included the communist affiliation of union members, members' right to free access to the union newspaper, the use of union facilities by religious groups, and union democracy, among many others.
