Born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Connon came to Canada in 1852. He invented the film roller in 1881, but his idea was appropriated by an employer of a Toronto supply dealer to whom he had written proposing his idea. These ealier records concern his store in Elora, known as Connon and Henderson (1860-1861). Also includes family papers and accounts. James H. Wells was an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky from 1892 - 1895. Little else is known about the history of the collection, it was found in a sealed wooden box with "Wells Glass Negatives" written on the top. From the description of James H.
