Kingsville, Ont. - In 1904 Jack Miner conceived the idea of the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary. In 1944 he died of a heart attack at the age of 79 and was buried on the sanctuary grounds. Three years after his death, Canada set aside the week of April 10th (his birthday) as National Wild Life Week. Some of the famous people he knew and corresponded with are Henry Ford, W.K. Kellogg, R.B. Mellon, Billy Sunday, Cyrus Eaton and many others.
