Dancer, choreographer, author, lecturer: In a career that has spanned more than 50 years, Agnes de Mille has become one of America's most honored women in the arts. She has created dances for Broadway's "Oklahoma," "One Touch of Venus," "Carousel, " "Brigadoon," "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," and "Paint Your Wagon." Her balle "Rodeo" has become an American classic. A popular lecturer on the arts, de Mille has written several books, including DANCE TO THE PIPER (Boston : Little, Brown, c1952) and REPRIEVE (Garden City, N.Y. : Doubleday, 1981), and is the recipient of seventeen honorary degrees from colleges and universities throughout the country. Her appearance at SLC is the second in a series of six presentations given by celebrated performing artists and sponsored by the College's O'Neil Fund for the Enrichment of the Arts.
