Letters to L.M. Flournoy, 1853-1864.

Collection contains 7 letters from Robert Anderson and 2 letters from his wife Eliza B. Anderson to L.M. Flournoy of Paducah, Kentucky. Generally, Anderson discusses his personal finances with Flournoy, a prominent banker. Anderson also describes his wife's illness and the condition of his children. Two letters from Eliza Anderson, one from 1864 and another undated, discuss her husband's sickness and their planned departure for Germany. Although Anderson is most famous for his defense of Ft. Sumter at the onset of the Civil War, there is no mention of that episode in these letters. Most letters are addressed from Trenton, New Jersey.
