Presents oral histories of 11 Cambodian Americans who arrived in the U.S. in the six years following the 1979 fall of the Khmer Rouge. The narrators, who came largely from the province of Battambang, recount their experiences under the Khmer Rouge regime, their escape from Cambodia and emigration to the U.S. Many of them also discuss their lives in the U.S. With one exception, the narrators are either ethnic Khmer or Khmer-Chinese and their interviews are all in English. The interview with the one Yaw (Lao Cambodian) narrator was conducted originally in Lao, but this can be heard only softly in the background as the interviewer provides a voice-over English translation.
