General orders for Colonel Comfort Sage's regiment of Connecticut Militia and a few brief division orders for Gen. Joseph Spencer's brigade during the New York City campaign, 17 Sept.-22 Nov. 1776. General orders from Gen. Washington's headquarters at Harlem Heights, White Plains (N.Y.), and later Hackensack (N.J.) commend two officers killed at Harlem Heights, and also concern straggling, plundering, and deployment and supply of his forces to maintain constant readiness against enemy action. Division orders reinforce these orders and assign daily duty officers. A partial set of weekly returns, 20 Sept.-13 Dec. 1776, on the status of personnel of the regiment is included. Entries mention the Battles of Harlem Heights and White Plains.
