Larry Register served as a state senator (1970-1974) and Mayor of Dothan, AL (1987-1989). He was active in community planning, serving on the Alabama Turnpike Authority and, in 2002-2003, on a local panel to select alternate sites for an interstate highway connector. He also initiated Dothan's successful quest to become a "Mural City," and hosted President Ronal Reagan's visit to Dothan in 1986.
