Barlow's letter is an introduction to Ebeling. Ebeling's letter concerns his Erdbeschreibung und Geschichte von Amerika (Hamburg, 1794-1816) and a request for Stiles to provide him with some historical notes about New England and Connecticut. Stiles' letter is a reply to Ebeling containing the history of Connecticut.
